This one is a huge barrel and a beautiful piece of machinery that comes two large turned aluminium barrel parts, a replacement part for the mounting the new barrel, a very nice brass muzzle brake and four brass fittings to complete the muzzle brake with.
The turned aluminium barrel parts connect together to form a barrel 22cm long excluding the muzzle brake. I did find on my particular one that a bit of the milling debris inside the hole in the larger part had to be removed to allow the other part to fully seat, otherwise it sat out about 1/2 a mm but this was not a major. The barrel parts also include the fine striations of the lathe that are found on the real gun.
The muzzle brake is beautifully produced and screws on precisely with no problems. It’s so nice looking it seems a shame to have to paint it. The brass fittings for the muzzle brake are equally well made and also fit together beautifully.
There are no instructions for assembling the RB Models barrels so you either need to know your stuff or do a little research, but for this particular barrel there is a basic photo assembly guide here on this website that should aid in showing what goes where.
This is a beautiful piece of kit and the level of detail just way outdoes the kit supplied gun. If you are building the Trumpeter Geschutwagen Tiger 17cm then this is definitely one item to add to the upgrade parts list. The gun barrel is such a dominant feature of that kit, or just the 17cm Kanone on its own even, that this barrel really should be a must have.
